Robert De Niro And Shia LaBeouf Starring In After Exile

Both Robert De Niro and Shia LaBeouf have had mixed fortunes in the movies, but they’re both enjoying a relative period of either anticipation or acclaim for their latest films. Now, they’re planning to unite on screen for based-on-truth tale After Exile.
Joshua Michael Stern will direct the script by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo, the latter of whom drew the story from his life. After Exile will follow Mike Delaney (LaBeouf) who, after being released from prison for killing an innocent man after a violent robbery, must re-enter his old life where he and his ex-criminal father (De Niro) attempt to save his younger brother from a life of drugs and crime.
The drama is about the difficult trajectory toward forgiveness and redemption. De Niro will play Ted Delaney, an ex-con who lost his wife years ago and now suffers from alcoholism and guilt. All he has left is the instinct to save his two sons from the dark and destructive paths they are on. Stern will start cranking the cameras this October in Philadelphia.
De Niro has re-teamed with old pal Martin Scorsese for his latest, The Irishman, which will premiere at the New York Film Festival next month ahead of its debut on screens big and small via Netflix, and will also play the London Film Festival on 13 October. In addition to that, he’ll be seen in Joker, due out 4 October. LaBeouf’s latest is The Peanut Butter Falcon, now out in the US and heading to the UK on 18 October.
